Lighting and Tile Selections

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but we might actually be in the home stretch of making our selections! This part of the process has been so much fun, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a little stressful too. We’ve been on a mission to make everything feel “just right” a blend of us, timeless style, and let’s be honest… the budget matters (those price tags add up fast lol). Lately, we’ve made some BIG and exciting decisions, and I’m so pumped to share a little peek with you! Below is a recap of where we landed on lighting and tile, two areas that really bring a home to life.

Lighting

When it came to lighting, we leaned into clean, simple, and modern choices for most of the house, a foundation that gives us space to layer in deeper design details as we settle in. But don’t be fooled… we couldn’t resist a showstopper moment. We found a stunning piece for the kitchen that’s going to turn heads, but you’ll just have to wait to see that one in action. hehe

Our offices were a totally different vibe. From the start, we envisioned moody, cozy escapes. Nick, the ever-patient researcher, saved the day when I hit a wall trying to find the right fixture for mine. He discovered the perfect green light from Anthropologie, and it was love at first click. We’re planning to color drench the spaces in rich, dark hues, and I honestly can’t wait to see how it all comes together.

Tile

EEEEP! Now onto tile and let me just say, this part was so fun. To tie in the vibe of our moody offices, Nicky and I knew we wanted a bathroom to match. Our original plan was classic black, but like most things in this process, that idea evolved the moment we laid eyes on the most stunning green subway tile. It was an instant yes and one of those “had no idea I needed this until I saw it” moments.

We also had our hearts set on a black and white checkerboard tile for the laundry room. I’ll be honest, the photos don’t do any of it justice, especially this combo. I originally imagined a bolder black-and-white pattern, but when it came time to decide, I wanted something that flowed with the rest of the home. These two tiles felt intentional and just right.

And tell me I’m not alone here… is it every girl’s dream to have penny tile? Because it’s definitely been mine. I knew I wanted to incorporate it somewhere, but I never expected to go the green route again, yet here we are! I just have this feeling our primary bathroom is going to feel like a total spa escape, and I’m already counting down the days.

Lastly, while the guest bathroom may be more simple, the shower wall features a textured groove tile that adds just the right amount of oomph. It’s little touches like that that make all the difference.

As always, huge shout out to Edwards Franklin for all their expertise in making design decisions. They are amazing at taking our vision and bringing it to light and constantly challenging us to go out of our comfort zone.

What comes next, you might ask?

Well, we just went countertop shopping (so fun!), our iron front door should be getting installed soon, and honestly… beyond that, I’m kind of just along for the ride at this point. lol I’ll be sure to share another update once there are more fun details and decisions to fill you in on.
